Golf club puts a hole in one to help Overgate Hospice

Castlefields Golf Club held its annual charity day in aid of Overgate Hospice, Elland.

Thirty two pairs took part in the main golf competition at the Rastrick club over three sessions and many were joined by partners, friends and relatives.

Additional competitions included a nine hole putting competition sponsored by Direct Golf, backing yourself to hit the eighth green to win a sleeve of balls and buying two mulligans each to be used during the competition.

Businesses and members sponsored tees and gave raffle and competition prizes for the event which is expected to raise in excess of £1,300.

The club was thanked by Joanne Sygrove from the hospice and club member Damian Roebuck made a short speech praising the work the hospice do including the care of one of his relatives.

Peter Thompson was also praised for the excellent presentation of the course and everyone who helped on the day.

The competition was won by R. Hallam and C. Illingworth with runners up S. Bottomley and J. Tuff and third place E. Harrison and R. Smith.

The non golfer category was won by J. Bates and J. Bates. The putting competition was won by J. Haley and nearest the pins was won by S. Sladden and G. Marsden.

The club would like to thank everyone who sponsored the event and donated prizes which helped them to raise the money for the hospice on the day.
