At a special event held at the Hilton Hotel, Manchester, a massive £12,000 was raised for the foundation.

The Road to Gold event aimed to raise money for the charity which will benefit Britain’s Olympic hopefuls for the future and inspire young people to be their best through involvement in athletics.

A charity auction and raffle were hosted as part of the event and Ploughcroft successfully bid for over £3,000 worth of items.

Those included a six-course gourmet meal for ten people, cooked by an executive chef, a racing car experience and a signed Usain Bolt World 100m Record photo montage.

Ploughcroft plan to support the charity in other events in the future.

Managing director Chris Hopkins, said: “DMSF is an inspiring charity which encourages young people to believe in themselves and their ability to succeed in life.

“As a former champion bodybuilder, I am passionate about inspiring young people to achieve their best, so it is fantastic for Ploughcroft to be involved with supporting such a worthwhile cause.

“I look forward to seeing the money raised from the night help towards the development of Britain’s next generation of athletes.”

The event also featured a panel discussion, chaired by Diane Modahl, where speakers including Brian Whittle, one of Britain’s greatest ever 400m Olympic athletes, Yvonne McGregor MBE, Elizabeth Johnson and Audley Harrison MBE talking about how the ways to optimise performance when it really matters.

Ploughcroft was established in 1997 as a construction and roof contracting business.
