COULD you win the Brighouse Echo sponsored fancy dress competition?
Entrants have the chance to take part in the procession and the winners get the added bonus of a handsome trophy and a cash prize.
There are three classes this year - children up to three, four to seven and eight and over. Adults are more than welcome to join in the fun and support their children in the competition.
There will be a £10 cash prize for the winner of each section and the entry judged best overall will be presented with the Donna Reaney Trophy.
The award is in memory of Donna who was a regular worker for the gala and helped to organise the fancy dress event.
Editor Stephen Firth said the fancy dress competition was a great tradition and he was delighted that the paper was involved. “It’s great fun and there is the chance to win some super prizes. There were some brilliant entries last year. Let’s see if we can do even better this year.”
Anyone wishing to take part should gather with their parent or guardian at the top of Lane Head recreation ground, near to the changing rooms from 12.15pm onwards.
The procession sets off from Garden Road at 1pm. All entrants are encouraged to join the parade and should be present on the gala field when the winners will be announced from the stage after the opening ceremony.
