Gala set to be a huge hit

LIGHTCLIFFE’S annual gala is set to be bigger and better than ever with hundreds expected to flock through the gates.

The popular event on Sunday at 2pm, which will once again be free to enter, has a stack of stalls, rides and games providing entertainment for the whole family.

Rail company Grand Central is sponsoring the event for the second successive year. They have also provided the first prize in the raffle – a first class return train journey to London for four people.

The gala will once again be graced by the talented dancers from the nearby Dorothy Stevens School. Lightcliffe C of E Primary School will provide the musical entertainment with the choir and swing band both performing.

There will be a range of refreshments available and favourites like the bouncy castle, slides, coconut shy, bottle stall, penalty shoot out, tombola, and golf pitching will once again grace the field.

There will be cries of ‘house’ as people enjoy games of village bingo, and tennis fans don’t need to stay at home as the Wimbledon men’s final will be shown on television.

Chairman and Gala co-ordinator Steve Hartley would like to hear from anyone who can help over the next few days on 07803 736959.
