Auditions will be held to crown the Brighouse Charity Gala Queen for the event’s 50th anniversary this year.

Organised by the Brighouse Ladies Circle, girls can enter to become the queen. They will put their case forward before a panel of judges - made up of Circle members, the gala committee and last year’s Gala Queen Paige Roderick - at the competition, held at Prego restaurant on April 29 at 7pm.

Entrants must be between 16 and 21 years of age on gala day - June 27. Entrants will be judged on their personality and enthusiasm. They must also live, work or go to school in the Brighouse area.

The girl chosen to take on the role receives £150 for an outfit for gala day, and her attendant will receive £100 also for a new outfit.

Arrangements are made for the girls to have their hair styled, make-up done and flowers are provided for the occasion.
