BRIGHOUSE fundraiser Amanda Warrant is joining forces with her charity colleagues to urge people to ‘stand up to cancer’.
Amanda, Cancer Research UK area volunteer manager for Brighouse, is backing a campaign which aims to raise funds for vital research into the devastating disease.
The ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ campaign is also being backed by Channel 4 and TV, music and film stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian Jessen.
Amanda, aged 41, and her colleagues Sarah Bailey and Louise Aubrey are urging people to raise money to accelerate the fight against cancer and help more people survive the disease.
She said: “Most of us know people whose lives have been touched by the disease. This is an opportunity to join the fight and help more people to survive.
“Over the nine years that I have worked for Cancer Research UK I’ve met so many supporters who’ve had cancer. And thankfully, thanks to research, many are still here today.
“Incredible progress has been made in the last 40 years but there is still much more to do. We are entering a ‘golden age’ of cancer research and every pound we raise takes us a step closer to achieving our goal to beat this disease.”
The campaign runs throughout October. To take part contact www.standuptocancer.org.uk
