Families in Clifton came together for their village football team’s first ever fun day.
Clifton Rangers Junior Football club held the event at Bailiff Bridge playing fields on Bradford Road and doubled up as their signing on day for new and existing players.
There was plenty of entertainment for both young and old with a barbecue, penalty shoot out and a coaches versus the under 16 team who were 5-2 winners.
Chairman Chris Smith said the club will be looking to make the day an annual event.
“We had between 500 and 1,000 people attend which was very good considering it was Brighouse 1940’s weekend.
“It was open to all the local residents and we had charity stalls . We had teams from three-years-old to 18 and we now have 270 players as we continue to grow year on year.”
The club is holding trials for under 11/12’s on Sunday at Towngate, Clifton, between 10am-2pm. They are also looking for girls to join their teams.
