There was plenty of Christmas glitter and glamour on the catwalk when the Brighouse Friends of Overgate Hospice held their fashion show.
More than £1,500 was raised at the evening of fun and fashion at the Old Brodleians Rugby Club at Hipperholme.
One of the organisers Angela Curran said: “We are proud that, five years after we first thought of the idea of holding a fashion show to raise funds for Overgate, it is still going strong and has been a success every year.
“We hope it will continue for many more to come.”
Local clothing stores and retailers – including Wardrobe@74 in Elland, Anon Lingerie in Elland, party planners Glitz on the Go, capsule clothing range Magic Mix, The Prop Shop in Northowram and Always and Forever Bridal in Sowerby Bridge – contributed to the fashion show.
Angela said: “There was a fabulous atmosphere, as always, with Christmas music, a wide range of stalls and plenty of audience cheer. The children – our future fundraisers – were great, modelling their own clothes which had been donated to Overgate and our new compere Neil Davidson did a fantastic job. The young models also encouraged the audience to donate by handing out bin bags which we hope will be filled and handed out to the charity shops.
“It was great to give a showcase to local shops and provide them with an opportunity to show off their Christmas clothing ranges as well as supporting Overgate.”
Angela, of Hove Edge, formed the Brighouse group shortly after the death of her husband Nigel of a rare form of cancer.
He died in Overgate Hospice in 2007 and since then Angela and her friends have dedicated their spare time to fundraising.
They have held sponsored walks, organised collections and turned the fashion show into an annual event.
