REECE Miller made a big impression when he attended the presentation of the Brighouse Echo Business Awards.

So much so that the companies who were sharing a table with him and his employer, Declan Cannar, decided to join together and present him with a special prize.

Grand Central and representatives from the Great Victoria Hotel in Bradford decided that his nomination from Jean and John Riley was so impressive for a 21-year-old that they presented him with an overnight stay in the penthouse of the hotel and two first-class tickets to London.

Reece, who was highly commended in the employee of the year category, said he was overwhelmed by the generous gesture.

“It was brilliant. I thought to be a runner-up at such an event was quite an achievement and for them to do something so nice was fantastic. I am really grateful.”

Reece was put forward for the award by Mr and Mrs Riley, of Slead Avenue, Brighouse, after the company he worked for, DC Developments, of Pepper Hill, Shelf, won the contract to build the couple a house within their grounds.

“For us, Reece breaks all the stereotypes of what people generally think about young males and gives us faith in the future for young people,” they said in their nomination of a young man clearly going places.
