A new Christmas tree has been planted at the heart of Clifton village.

The tree was put in place by the Safer, Cleaner, Greener Team from Calderdale Council and was officially unveiled in Towngate, close to the war memorial.

Reverend Andrew Hall, from St John’s Church, was in attendance as he said prayers and a blessing. The choir from St John’s Primary Academy performed and helped to bury a time capsule at the base of the new tree.

On Thursday, December 18, Christmas carols will be sung around the Christmas tree.

The songs begin at 7pm where villagers, children and families will be singing seasonal carols, followed by soup served in the church.
