The Old Ship pub in Bethel Street, Brighouse, is one of only eight in Yorkshire selected for special treatment by Peterborough brewery
Oakham Ales.

The friendly town centre local will be serving up seasonal and exclusive ales under the brewery’s ‘Oakademy of Excellence’ partnership.

Landlady Marsha Jones said: “I am really pleased. I’ve only been at the pub since October and it means a lot to me to have this link with Oakham and support from them.”

Oakham’s Citra beer is going down well with Old Ship regulars and from today Jester’s Ferret - described as a light golden beer with a balanced bitterness and a robust fruity flavour - will be available.

Marsha hosted a launch party for Oakham Ales which was attended by members of the Calderdale branch of CAMRA.

“I’m really keen to get into the pub into the Good Beer Guide,” she said. “I’ve loved my time at the Old Ship so far and I really want it to do well.

“Linking up with Oakham will give me the chance to run special promotions and serve up exclusive and seasonal ales to my customers.”

Customers are also getting the chance to try beers from the Wolf Brewery in Norwich City fan Marsha’s home county of Norfolk for a limited period.
