Couple Dave and Ann Packham have taken over the reins at the Robin Hood pub, Brighouse.
The couple who originally hail from Leeds came to the pub on Tuesday, August 20.
They have been in the industry for years having had the Woolpack at Keighley, The Norman Hotel at Normanton, another pub in Barnsley and the clubhouse at the Yorkshire Amateur Football Club in Leeds.
Dave and Ann were offered the pub by owner Wayne Joy and they came to view it and, of course, have a look at Brighouse which they had never visited before.
“We liked the pub, the town and the customers at the Robin, plus we met Roy Pape, who was running the pub and he was very helpful, and is still being very helpful now he is the other side of the bar,” said Dave.
The couple want to build on what Roy has already established at the Wakefield Road pub and they have plenty to keep them busy with two pool teams, Monday night dominoes and cards plus a darts team.
Dave and Ann will keep the Friday afternoon Grafters tea going which consists of sandwiches and something warm like a curry or chilli.
They are also thinking of karaoke nights and introducing poker.
“We are still finding our feet but everyone has been lovely and welcoming and we just want to build on the good work that has already been done here,” said Dave.
