l The successful Sportsman’s Dinner with Paul Merson at the Holiday Inn, Brighouse has raised almost £1,000 to be divided between the Hollybank Trust and Clifton Rangers FC. The fund-raising efforts will continue with a Gold Cup event for all horse racing fans on Friday, March 14. The Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup experience will include a carvery sandwich, complimentary drink, Guinness promotion and live big screen action. l Kirsty Gelder at The Bridge is looking forward to hosting a charity firewalk on Sunday at 6.30pm. Fifteen brave souls are lined up to walk the hot coals to raise money for Little Heroes. Hot food will be available to buy on the night and a charity cake raffle. Kirsty hopes people will offer support.
l The jam session tonight, Thursday, at the Barge, Brighouse, is with Mick Brown from Pyschoslinkies with live musi c from Breed on Friday playing the best of Pearl Jam, Nirvana and U2. On Saturday rock covers band Empress will take to the stage with an acoustic set from Mick Brown on Sunday.
l Local DJ Jiving Jeff will be at the monthly record hop at the Lightcliffe Club on Friday and then on Sunday he’s at the Railway and Commercial for an afternoon of rock and roll from 2pm to 5pm.
l Steven and Carol Rooks at the White Horse, Lightcliffe, will have live entertainment from acoustic singer Hutch on Saturday from 6.30pm.
l Chef and Brewer pub The Old Mill at Wakefield Road is hosting a beer festival until March 16. Twenty ales are on offer from all over the UK with tasters available.
