Blue Moon Pubs are back in Lightcliffe!

They bought the Sun Inn at Lightcliffe in 2007 and went on to purchase and develop The Turnpike Inn, Rishworth, The Fleece Inn at Barkisland and The Malthouse at Rishworth. The group then sold The Sun last March and owner Lee Roberts said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to buy it back this January.”

Live music has already been reintroduced every Friday evening and a line-up of acts are planned – more details available on Facebook and at The Sun Inn website.

For anyone planning a family gathering or local event during 2014 the function room at The Sun Inn is a fabulous space which can cater for good sized groups.

“Our dedicated function team can give you help and advice on room set up, menu choices or even any entertainment you may need,” said Lee, “We’re here to make sure your event goes smoothly and serve delicious buffets or three course meals created to suit your occasion.”

Lee is a former manager with the Wetherspoons pub chain before he then went on to develop his own pub group and become his own boss. The Blue Moon pub company came about after Lee was leasing the Malthouse and the Sun Inn. After investing over a quarter of a million pounds both venues were given major refurbishments in order to maximise their potential.

“Giving up a very well paid job with Wetherspoon was a big decision, but I was confident that the new venture could be a success,” said Lee.

“I have simply put into practice what I learnt with Wetherspoon, which was a wonderful company to work for, but there is nothing quite like running your own business.”
