l The Beck at Bradford Road attracted enthusiastic support from the Brighouse community and beer and cider enthusiasts with its festival over St Patrick’s weekend. Entertainment ranged from Irish music and dancing to Brighouse singer Roger Davies’ CD launch. “We almost ran out of beer glasses at one stage!” said landlord Adrian Whitworth. “I am now preparing for the next beer and cider festival for the Spring Bank Holiday in May and it will be even bigger and more exciting - with outdoor bars, a drinking tent and a music tent.”
On Sunday there will be live music from 4.30pm from Ryan Spendlove and support from Brighouse singer songwriters Dave Kennedy and Ian Crabtree.
l Tonight, Thursday, it’s the weekly jam session with Mick Brown at The Barge, Brighouse. On Friday it’s fun time with the International Party Doctors, Saturday will see Suicide Blonde take to the stage and on Sunday it’s the turn of Old Man Pie.
l Jiving Jeff returns with the monthly rock and roll night at the Lightcliffe Club with music from Huddersfield band The Rhythm Kings. There will also be a cheque presentation of £250 to Overgate Hospice.
