Saturday evening is Gala Night for Brighouse Town Football Club at Huddersfield Golf Club, Fixby.
They are not only celebrating their promotion to the Evo-Stik Northern League Division One, but 50 years as a football club.
They started out as the social team for Blakebrough Valves, at one time along with Kossett Carpets at Brookfoot a huge employer in the town.
The late Nigel Wilson then steadily progressed the team with his committee into the West Riding County Amateur League as Brighouse Town FC and the rest is history.
Chairman Ray McLaughlin and his CEO Chris Lister will be presiding over a three-course dinner, live entertainment and dancing.
“I am really looking forward to the occasion as we will have all the committee, coaching staff, players and all their wives and partners under one roof for what should be a lovely occasion,” he said.
“A lot of work has gone into following up on the splendid work Nigel did and he will always be fondly remembered by us all.
“Brighouse Town FC will grow not only in football terms in this town but socially as well and we also look forward to bringing revenue into the town as more and more away support joins us at our Hove Edge ground from next season onwards.”
