l At the Whitehall, Hipperholme, this Saturday evening there will be live music from Bigmouth, singing the likes of the Killers, Sterophonics, The Jam and many more.

l At The George, Dave and Sue Harker have a new menu on offer and main meals are two for £10.They have had a new cask line installed so will be serving rotating guest ales.

Showing all the top sporting action, it will have the Bradford City v Reading FA Cup quarter-final this Saturday from 12.45pm. Every Saturday evening it has karaoke with Debs and live music is on every Sunday from 4pm.

For St Patrick’s Day this year it is planning live Irish-themed entertainment on Sunday, March 15. Guinness will be served this year at £1.99 a pint from March 14- 17.

l Matt Parkinson informs me that at the Hare and Hounds, Hipperholme, there is Carling and John Smith’s still at £2.45 per pint and rotating guest ales from £2.60 a pint. BT Sports has been installed alongside the Sky package, which is showing all the top sporting action. There are multi screens, so on a Thursday the pub can show the Rugby League’s Super League and Premier League Darts. Tuesday night is quiz night with the jackpot building up nicely to more than £100.

l Tonight (Thursday) at The Barge, the jam session is with The Heroes. On Friday night rock band Storm will be on stage, followed on Saturday evening by The Undecided. On Sunday The Hot Rock Trio will be performing.

l At Jeremy’s this weekend there is live music on Friday night from The Ushers, a five piece band playing 60’s to now. On Saturday evening Sweet Pea will be on stage bringing you some jazz, soul, pop and reggae. The Sunday afternoon acoustic is with Nat and Jacob.

Owner Rachel Bray also informs that she has now got an events manager, namely Joel Hudson, and a bar manager in the form of Stuart Pitcher.

For Mother’s Day, it is offering a three course menu at £19.95 per head and every dining mum will receive a cocktail.

Tickets are now also being sold in advance for a charity quiz night coming up on March 25 with funds being given to Overgate Hospice. It is £6 per ticket and includes a pie and peas supper.
