IMPROVEMENTS to a Lightcliffe park will not only benefit the families who use it but the whole community, according to a ward councillor.
More than 70 residents were asked for their thoughts about plans to make some upgrades around the war memorial at The Stray with some favourable responses.
Councillor Graham Hall (Con, Hipp/Light) who attended the meeting at The Stray said people were very supportive about the plans. “The improvements will be of benefit for young families and children. But it will also keep the character of The Stray,” he said. “Residents were coming up with some good ideas about what could be done and the children were given stickers to put on the equipment they wanted to keep.
“Everyone was positive and pleased that something was going to be done. Something which benefits children from the whole area but at the same time is approved by the residents. We want to get a balance and do what is right for everyone concerned.”
Improvements will include repairing and re-painting the metal railings, repairing the six benches, and repairing the paving around the memorial.
