HIPPERHOLME Grammar School has welcomed its new headmaster into the fold.
Jack Williams comes to the school from Hillcrest Grammar School in Stockport, an independent day school of a similar size to Hipperholme, having worked previously at Leeds Grammar School and Magdalen College School, Oxford.
A chemistry graduate from the University of Sheffield, Mr Williams will be taking an active role in the classroom as well as leading both the grammar school and Hipperholme Grammar Junior School.
His wife, Anne, also works in the independent education sector and he had a young son, Oliver.
Mr Williams is a softball umpire at national level and enjoys singing and sport in equal measure.
He will have little time to relax in his chair as he prepares to welcome prospective year seven pupils and sixth formers.
“I am delighted to have joined the school at an interesting time in education,” he said. “The opportunity for children from three to 18 to learn in the same, small nurturing environment is one which all can benefit from.
“I hope to be able to bring a number of new initiatives to benefit pupils, parents and staff alike, while maintaining the aims and ethos which have made the school so successful for over 350 years.”
