A CHILDREN’S centre in Brighouse is providing an outstanding service to youngsters.
Wellholme Park Children’s Centre in Bradford Road has been rated outstanding by Ofsted inspectors during their latest visit to the premises.
Inspector Laura Hoyland said inspirational leadership with a highly effective and motivated staff team meant that children’s individual needs were extremely well met.
“All children are fully included in the life of the setting as inclusion is of the highest priority for all staff resulting in all children making significant progress in all six areas of learning,” she said.
“Staff are committed to providing an exceptionally safe and secure environment for all children and rigorous self-evaluation ensures that the setting continually strives to drive improvement.
“Staff have formed extremely strong links with parents, carers and others to ensure children’s welfare and learning and development needs are very well met at all times.”
She noted that all staff were extremely confident and knowledgeable about the Early Years Foundation Stage and that planning was meticulous.
The only step to further improve the children’s centre was to continue to support children’s understanding of how exercise promotes good health.
Senior early years practitioner, Dawn Hufton, said they were very pleased. “It is something we had hoped for but we have had to put extra work in, which has been worthwhile,” she said. “This is the 16th out of 17 inspections where we have received outstanding and the other was good, so we are delighted.”
