Models strutted their stuff and the community in Hipperholme rallied round to help with the running of a pre-school.

Lightcliffe Pre-School held a fashion show and fund-raising event for parents and the public at the Old Brodleians Rugby club, Hipperholme.

Heather Harding, chairman of the committee from the pre-school based at the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe Christ Church, said the annual event was the best one they had held over the six years.

“We have been selling tickets and we had 80 people attend. This year has been really good and we have raised £400.

“It’s a great amount especially in these particular economical times.

“We couldn’t do it without the support of everyone involved. The Old Brodleians are very kind to let us use the room free of charge each year.

“A lot of local businesses have also helped us by donating raffle prizes.”

The charity-led pre-school hope to hold another fashion show and fund raising event in November. They are also preparing for this year’s Brighouse Charity Gala on June 29.

“Although this years theme is ‘Under the Sea’, we are hoping for much better weather this time around, so it is fingers crossed as we plan ahead,” added Heather.

“We will be hosting a stall with a ‘Jar Tombola’ and have been busy squirreling away lots of glass jars ready to fill up with all sorts of treats and prizes. We will also have a few other gala favourites on offer.

“We will also have a float this year to take part in the parade and will be starting to make props for our theme.”
