Children are on the move at the Early Years @ Lightcliffe.
The nursery has moved into three new rooms at Christ Church, based in Leeds Road, Lightcliffe.
They have always been at the premises but because of the room was not available on Mondays and Fridays, they decided to renonvate three rooms.
One is used for construction, the second is for messy activities such as play dough, painting and sandpits and the third is a quiet room used for books and jigsaw puzzles.
Leader Helen Grayshon said: “It has been really good. We have had lost of positive feedback from parents and the children. We just find it a lot more focused and it is encouraging the children to try new things. We all love it this way.”
The rooms were funded through fund-raising and nursery funding. “We have been looking for a solution for a while to open on a Monday and a Friday as well as Tuesday to Thursday but we couldn’t use the same room. We saw the potential with these rooms.
“We got lots of help from parents and friends to do all the decorating and the cleaning of the furniture. One of our parents sold our old equipment on eBay and raised a lot of money.
“They then sourced the best prices to buy new furniture so it looks like we have spent more than what we have. All the staff spent time over Easter as well making sure it all went to plan.”
The nursery is now open Monday to Friday.
