Helping in Schools, a popular accredited course for parents and voluntary helpers in primary schools, is returning to the Brighouse area.

The course is run by the Workers’ Educational Association and is designed for volunteers in primary schools, for parents interested in how schools work and how children learn, and for people who think they might be interested in support work in schools.

The WEA is now inviting applications for places on a “Helping in Schools” course to be held at St Andrew’s Junior School, Waterloo Road, Brighouse starting October 8, 2013.

The course will be held on Tuesdays for 14 weeks, from 9.30am to 3.00pm with a lunch break.

During the course applicants will be expected to help as a volunteer in a primary school for at least two hours a week and have the opportunity to gain the NCFE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.

The course is intended for people with few previous qualifications.

Anyone interested should call Linda Croft on 01706 818103.
