Pupils from a Rastrick School have scooped an award after taking part in gymnastics event, competing against other schools from across Calderdale.

The team, made up of 12 pupils from Woodhouse Primary School, showed of their ability at the Calderdale Schools’ Gymnastics Competition at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, on March 12.

Clare Dooley, from the school, said: “It was the first time since 2009 that the school had entered the competition.

“The children worked really hard in the weeks leading up to the event to perfect their displays.

“A team competed in the large school mixed group and a team in the girls’ group.

“The children were delighted to be awarded the trophy for best newcomers.”
