The Rastrick community has been getting creative thanks to a grant from Rastrick Big Local for an art project.

Year five and six pupils at Field Lane Primary School worked alongside older residents living on the Field Lane estate and various groups who use the children’s centre.

Head teacher Vanessa Dear said the project, called “Drawing Together” was designed to involve many different members of the community in a creative project sharing their experiences and memories of living on the estate.

“The project was a great success, resulting in several pieces of high quality art work. Two pieces are on permanent display in school and the other piece of art will be displayed in various local places like Rastrick Library,” she said.

The art work was based on work by the artist and architect Hunter Vassel

Calderdale based artist Jude Wadley was the school’s artist in residence for the two weeks and worked closely with families and pupils.
