The wheels are in motion at Rastrick High School thanks to a donation from the Foundation Trustees.
The keys for an adapted minibus for physically impaired students of Rastrick High School have been handed over. The ceremony was a joint celebration with the official handover carried out by retiring Foundation Trustee Herbert Gooder.
Mr Gooder was elected a governor of Rastrick Grammar School on September 7 1955. He continued as a governor of Rastrick High School, following its foundation until his resignation on November 2, 1988.
He remained a Trustee of the Rastrick Grammar School Foundation from the date of the closure of Rastrick Grammar School until March 31 2013.
There was also cause to celebrate and recognise the contribution the Foundation has made to the school and College over the years. Since its formation, the Foundation has donated over £250,000 to various projects in school including thousands of academic books for the library, musical instruments to increase the provision within school, lighting and seating for a drama studio, contribution towards the maintenance of the Astroturf and improvements to the college study areas.
It has also supported over 243 bursary applications with over £100,000 of funding that has benefited many students in continuing their education.
