A few weeks ago readers may recall I told a story about a 1957 copy of ‘The Junior’ the St Andrew’s School magazine. Whilst the magazine did have a lot of photographs in, owing to the magazine being duplicated on one of the old Gestetner type duplicating machines the quality of the images were not suited to reproduction here.

Following the story appearing in the Echo I was contacted by Ann Walker who was Ann Nuttall of 3C and had a poem published in the magazine.

I paid a visit to her home and she has kindly loaned us this photograph which was taken on the 1957 St Andrew’s school trip to Ingelton.

Time has moved on since this photograph was taken and unfortunately Ann cannot recognise any of the children, except herself, she is the girl looking over the wall wearing the short white ankle socks.

The teacher she recalls is Mr McLoughlin.

Looking at the shadows it was a sunny day and maybe a hot one at that judging by the young lad wearing his jacket as a sun hat...!
