Echoes of the past: Brownies enjoying a special Haworth trip

This month is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charlotte Bronte.

She was the third daughter of the Rev Patrick Bronte and his wife Maria.

Her brother Patrick Branwell was born in 1817, and her sisters Emily and Anne in 1818 and 1820.

It was 1820 when the family moved to Haworth, Mrs. Bronte died the following year.

Let us move on from 1816 to July 2 1995 and in this featured photograph are the members of the 5th Rastrick Brownies on a special summer trip to Haworth.

If you are one of the girls in this photograph - what are the furry slippers that some of you are wearing with your uniforms?
