A chilling tale of murder and mystery is in store at the latest meeting of the Rastrick Local History Group.

The group are hosting a presentation evening at Rastrick Library on the Rastrick murders on Tuesday, October 13 at 6.30pm.

The illustrated presentation will cover the tale of murder and intrigue which involved the discovery of two children laying dead in their own home in Victorian Rastrick.

The talk will feature how the newspapers reported the incident, which shocked the whole village and beyond.

Find out who was responsible for their deaths, whether they were sent to the gallows and what became of the surviving family members.

All are welcome. Admission costs £3 for non-members including refreshments.

Originally started to plan celebrations for Rastrick Library’s centenary in 2012, there are now around 10 active members of the group who meet each month.

For more information and details on upcoming events, contact the group’s secretary Susan Hawkes on 01484 714858.
