Calderdale fire crews have been fighting a blaze that ripped through a former school building in Bradford.

At the height of the fire at the Yorkshire Martyrs Catholic College, Westgate Hill Street, Tong, 70 firefighters were at the scene at 3.40pm yesterday (Saturday).

Part of the derelict two storey building within the school complex was 100 per cent involved in fire.

Crews have used one aerial, four jets and six breathing apparatus to control the fire and firefighters have remained in attendance overnight.

A cause of the fire has yet to be established, with fire investigation teams on-site and police expected to be at the scene today.
