POLICE sergeant Dean Maddocks has been given a new role in Brighouse.

Sgt Maddocks, who is replacing Sgt Tony Johnson, has completed nearly 15 years in West Yorkshire Police having worked in Bradford and in the response unit at Halifax Police Station.

He moved to the lower Calder Valley area in 2009 as sergeant for Hipperholme and Lightcliffe area.

Sgt Johnson told residents at Brighouse Ward Forum: “We are sharing the workload. Sgt Maddocks will continue to look after Hipperholme and Lightcliffe and now Brighouse so I can concentrate on Rastrick.

“It doesn’t mean to say there are less officers on the streets.

“I will still have my team from Brighouse but Sgt Maddocks will have the responsibility of the area and its ward forums and the partners and communities together meetings.”

Sgt Maddocks, who lives in Batley and has three children, said he was looking forward to helping people and encouraged anyone with any concerns to contact him.

The community beat officer for the Brighouse area will be PC Liam Hay. Other officers for Brighouse are PC Dan Watson, PC Gemma Brett, PCSO Amy White and PCSO Jane Saxelby-Wyatt.
