DESPITE heavy downpours the show still went on at Lightliffe’s popular gala.
The crowds of people still flocked through the gates at Lightcliffe Cricket Club to enjoy the many attractions on offer.
The talented dancers from Dorothy Stevens School and Lightcliffe CE Primary School’s choir had to cancel due to the rain. But favourites like the bouncy castle, slides, coconut shy, bottle stall, penalty shoot out, tombola and golf pitching were a great success.
Michael Brooke from Lightcliffe Cricket Club said they were probably down on last year’s figures. “ROKT climbing gym came with their cave and that was a real success and we had go-karts that was an addition to the programme from last year,” he said. “It was a complete success and the money raised from the day will go to the club for the junior section.
“We would like to thank everybody that came and the sponsors from the local business that donated prizes. Without their help and support we would be struggling to get lots of prizes for the raffle, one of which was a voucher from Grand Central trains.
“It was a fantastic day and although it was touch and go at one point with the weather forecast the show still went on.”
He would like to thank Steve Hartley and the gala committee for all their hard work.
