A woman walking with her husband through Huddersfield town centre was assaulted by an unknown man.

The incident took place at around 4.30am on Saturday May 30 on Cross Church Street outside the Five Bar.

The female suffered serious injuries following the assault which required hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male, thick set, 5”10, with a shaved or bald head.

Detective Constable Cath Lowden of Kirklees CID said: “Although early in the morning, there were a number of people socialising in the area around the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the alleged assault, or who can identify the suspect responsible to come forward and contact police.”
