Mindless vandals have caused a serious amount of damage to Crow Nest Park Golf Club.
The damage close to the par 3 fifth hole at the Hove Edge club was found by the greenkeepers and repairs are expected to cost around £1,000.
Overnight on September 9 the following words were also inscribed ‘Aaron Roberts LS9’ in the bunker which guards the front left of the green.
The police have been informed and are currently carrying out their enquiries.
Club Manager Les Holmes said: “This is a sickening blow and is a crime against all of our members and visitors. We all, at Crow Nest feel that we have the best greens in the area and there has been continued praise for the greens for a number of years.
“There is a financial cost that we have to bear, in order to firstly get the greens to a high standard and then an ongoing cost to maintain them. The cost of the repairs now needed on the damaged green is a cost that we really do not need.
“I hope that the police are able to trace the culprits. If anyone reading this article knows either the person named in the bunker or any details relating to the crime then please do not hesitate to contact the police or me on 01484 401152.”
