Police in Halifax are appealing for anyone offered Volkswagen alloy wheels for sale to think twice before they buy them.

The warning comes after the Volkswagen garage on Halifax Road, Shelf was broken into overnight between 5.30pm on Monday January 5 and 8.30am on Tuesday January 6.

The offender or offenders broke in to the garage and targeted five brand new vehicles, taking all four alloy wheels off of each car.

Detective Inspector Craig Lord of Calderdale CID, said: “This is an unusual crime - in that a large number of wheels have been stolen. It is likely the thieves will now be trying to sell these on - so if you are offered alloy wheels for sale in a deal that sounds ‘too good to be true’ then I would ask you to think where they have come from and to call police.”

Call CID on 101.
