A BRIGHOUSE head teacher was back behind his desk for the start of term after narrowly escaping death in an horrific accident.
Graeme Genty, head at St Chad’s CE Primary School, Hove Edge, suffered horrific injuries when he was dragged under a van while cycling home to Grange Moor.
Mr Genty was struck by the van near the Brighouse exit of the M62 at Cooper Bridge.
Now, talking about the accident for the first time, Mr Genty said he was lucky to be alive.
“I was very fortunate because if I hadn’t had my cycle helmet on I wouldn’t be here today,” he said this week.
Mr Genty was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with a badly injured ankle and foot, a broken left leg, a broken shoulder and a whole host of cuts and bruises.
