Brighouse colleagues went to great lengths to raise money for charity.
Dawson Rentals joined a fleet of colourful dragons that took to the water over the weekend for the award winning Leeds Waterfront Festival.
The company in Armytage Road known as environMENTAL had 34 members of staff take part in the dragon race which saw crowds gather to cheer them on as they raced in their colourful rowboats.
Vanessa Akroyd who helped to organise the teams with Paul Brewers said it was a fantastic event.
Both teams wore bright pink t-shirts and from the 17 teams that took part, their second team came in fifth position.
Vanessa said: “Sam Briggs from Briggs Signs and Graphics in Brighouse had spent all night at A & E with a broken leg but he drove over with his wife and still got into the boat with his cast on. It was all good fun and he was a star.”
All the rowers had to keep in beat with the drummer who was also in the boat. “We all got absolutely soaked wet through but really enjoyed it. We are hoping to do it again if it goes ahead next year,” said Vanessa.
“It was hit and miss if it went ahead this year but the organiser did it all herself.”
The company had only planned to have one boat at the event but due to the amount of colleagues jumping on board they decided to do a second. “It was a fantastic team building exercise, and the organisers were fabulous. We have had an email from them saying it was a fabulous day and the humour and team spirit from everyone that was there was just brilliant. There was such a good atmosphere and the nice weather helped.”
The team also had a crowd of supporters on the day which included some of their sponsors also from the Brighouse area who travelled to Leeds.
Other highlights during the weekend included children’s games, live music and craft stalls.
