Professional snooker player Simon Bedford makes a guest appearance at Rastrick Constitutional Club on August 31.
The 37-year-old Bradfordian has come up against the likes of Steve Davies and he also reached the last 32 of the European Open in 2004 and the Grand Prix in 2008, beating twice World Champion Mark Williams. He qualified to return to the Main Tour for the 2008/2009 season by finishing ranked fourth in the 2007/2008 Pontin’s International Open Series.
Simon will be challenging up to ten people on the night for a game and if he has time, he will also do some trick shots.
It’s first come first served for tickets which cost £5 each including supper.
As this is a private function, the doors will be open to female visitors for the evening.
The club is looking forward to the start of the snooker league in September.
This Saturday the ‘Top club’ football team are raising money for the payment of the pitch fees, football kit and insurances etc by doing a bike ride from Manchester back to Rastrick and the ‘Top Club’ for a well earned drink!
Anyone wishing to sponsor the group of around 20 riders should call in at the club.
Staff from Elland restaurant La Cachette will be taking a taste of France to Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival at the weekend when they serve up a speciality dish of frogs’ legs.
In keeping with the restaurant’s French and European cuisine, the delicacy will be dished up deep-fried and coated in breadcrumbs, served with garlic mayonnaise and pommes frites.
This year the restaurant secured a coveted listing in The Good Food Guide and also retained its listing in the 2013 Michelin Guide for the tenth year running.
Owner Jonathan Nichols said: “We are thrilled to be back at the Huddersfield Food Festival; last year was such a success for us.”
