CLIMBERS of all abilities got their chance to scale the walls of the new ROKT climbing gym.
The building was unveiled to the public on Saturday after months of work converting Sugden’s giant flour mill on Mill Royd Street.
Visitors gave the new gym a massive thumbs up as they were taken on guided tours, climbed the bouldering walls and tried the circuit room.
Michael Nichols from Brighouse visited the gym with his seven-year-old daughter Megan and has followed the progress of the wall since January.
“To have something like this on your doorstep is fantastic and can only be a positive thing for Brighouse,” said Mr Nichols.
Philip Jones from the Halifax Air Cadets said it was ideal place to keep youngsters entertained.
“A climbing facility of this level is absolutely amazing and we were blown away when we saw inside,” he said.
Leigh Topping, co-director of the climbing gym, said: “We have had people coming up from London to have a look and been told by visitors there has been talk on blogs and websites that the ROKT climbing wall is the one that will blow all the others away.
Business partner Euan Noble said the opening has been a great success and is amazed about the amount of interest .
“There is a great energy and vibe with the building,” he said. “Experienced climbers and route planners have been trying out the facilities and they have said how great it is so we know we are doing something right.”
