Dust off your drape jacket, brush up your blue suede shoes and turn back the clock to the wild, heady days of the 1950’s rock and roll era.
Organisers of a fund raising campaign to bring the kitchens in the community hall at St John’s Church, Rastrick, up to the 21st century, are planning a couple of rock and roll evenings as part of their campaign to raise £21,000 for the kitchens major refurbishment.
So they are inviting you to turn back the clock to the jiving days of Bill Haley, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and at the same time help them raise funds for the kitchen refurbishment.
The two events, entitled Rock n Roll the Night Away, are being staged in the community hall, which is on St John’s Street off Gooder Lane, on April 12 and May 3, and if you think you would like to have a go but believe you have forgotten your dance steps, the organisers have sorted that out too.
The fun starts at 7pm when you can re-learn your dance steps with Nigel, DJ Bopper 44, but the real fun gets under way at 8pm when you can turn back the clock to those fun days of the 50’s rock n roll era and let the memories come flooding back with music provided by Jiving Geoff. Admission is £4 on the door.
