l Martin and Lauren Cockram at the Clough House are advertising for a new chef.

Jordan Childs, the junior chef who they trained from pot washer, is moving on and has taken a position at the prestigious Devonshire Arms on the Chatsworth estate.

“We are currently looking for and interviewing for a sous chef,” said Lauren.

The ongoing decoration throughout the pub is progressing and out in the beer garden, where they last year removed the children’s play area as it was not 100 per cent safe, has all now been levelled and Martin and Lauren are looking into fencing and garden furniture.

“Hopefully by the time the good weather comes we shall have the garden area ready,” added Lauren.

l I CAUGHT up with Brian and Anne Johnson at the Greyhound in Rastrick who have been at the pub now for 15 months.

Coming up on June 8, the pub is holding a charity race night to raise funds for Highbury School.

There will also be raffles on the night with plenty of prizes up for grabs, but if anyone would like to donate a prize to the cause then please call in at the pub.

The couple now feel well-established at the Greyhound.

“Its all going well, we have provided the customers with stability and they know that we aren’t a flash in the pan,” said Brian.

Having now got three pool teams and two darts teams, they also have Friday nights with Mark who hosts a disco, karaoke and Play Your Cards Right.

On a Saturday evening its Big T’s disco, with the popular Tony Mellor.

“We have plenty going on with our entertainment, pool and darts teams and other bits and bats we have going such as the bonus ball competition,” said Brian.
