FIVE charities will receive a financial boost thanks to a Brighouse building society.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is asking people to nominate charities to benefit from its annual ‘Make a Difference Week’ giveaway.

The week runs from August 17 to 25, and has been held for the last five years and to celebrate the anniversary the Brighouse branch wants to give a financial boost to some of the smaller charities within the area.

“Make A Difference week has always been a brilliant success that gives some of our smaller charities the chance to get a helping hand,” said Andrew Kerry the society’s manager in Calderdale.

“Yorkshire is committed to supporting local communities, where our members and staff live and work and we are hoping that by having members of the public call in and nominate their favourite charity we are hoping we can help support some of the smaller good causes that can often be overlooked for a donation.

“I hope anybody passing our branch in Brighouse between August 17 and 25 will pop in, pick up a nomination form and tell us who they want to see receive £100.” The money donated to the nominated charities through ‘Make A Difference Week’ is largely funded by the Society’s innovative ‘Small Change Big Difference’ scheme.

Members of the Society can choose to donate pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
