A new Tesco Express store opening in Hipperholme has created nine jobs for the local community.
Tesco interviewed and recruited staff from the local area to work in the new store on Leeds Road to bring a community feel to the store.
Store manager, Matt Lawson, and his team promoted the new jobs online and through the local job centre, conducting over 30 interviews with positive results, which led to all vacancies being filled by local people.
Matt said: “I was thrilled by the response we received to our recruitment drive. In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs for our local community and help get people back into work.
“I am really pleased with my new team and I’m looking forward to working with them. We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store on Leeds Road and look forward to playing an active role in the local community.”
Store opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am until 11pm, and for added convenience the store will have a free cash machine, Click and Collect, self-service tills, mobile phone top-up facility, National Lottery counter, bakery, beers, wines and spirits. Parking is also available.
The store is set to open on Tuesday, July 16.
