A RASTRICK firm has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

Specialists oil and lubricants manufacturer Millers Oils develop and produce many world leading oil formulations made possible by a continuous investment in research and product development.

The family company, operating for the past 125 years, was the first company to introduce engine oils specifically for diesel engines, followed by commercial vehicle oils for long drain intervals and recently launched an award-winning range of nano technology transmission oils.

David McCann, marketing development manager, said this was the first time they had been considered. “We know our sales in exports have grown so we put together some figures and the words and submitted our application.”

The company will be presented with its award by Dr Ingrid Roscoe, Lord Lieutenant of Yorkshire, and they will receive an invitation to Buckingham Palace in London.

Mr McCann said it was a privilege to be presented with the award which they can display for the next five years. “We are very pleased and the workforce has been informed including our staff at our depots in Glasgow and Abingdon who have contributed,” he said.

Millers Oils is going from strength to strength after announcing a record turnover of £25 million globally last year. This has been attributed to the addition of new distributors and direct partnerships totalling nearly 100 new accounts in the year.
