A hairdresser is celebrating 30 years in business at her salon in Lightcliffe.

Gillian Regan, nee Sweeney, took over Coppertop hairdressers, on Wakefield Road, in 1985 - the same year she married Neil Regan.

With the support of her parents, Bernard and Dorothy Sweeney, Gillian has built up the salon into a thriving business in Lightcliffe.

Gillian, who learned her craft as an apprentice at Irvine Lodge’s of Halifax, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and even through treatment continued to work and put her customers first.

Her staff team of Margaret Newby and Diane Peacock were beside her at every stage helping the business run smoothly.

Gillian is a well-known businesswoman in the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe area, and now she’s back to full health she is even more driven with her business. “I’ve had great fun along the way and can’t wait for the many more years ahead,” she said.
