Engineers of the future

Weir Valves and Controls of Elland have been working with Primary Engineer to inspire local children towards engineering careers.

Michael Beaumont, senior designer, was the first of a group of engineers who have volunteered to support local teachers to bring engineering into the heart of schools.

A group of 12 children aged between five and seven from Reinwood Infants in Huddersfield had an interactive presentation, a tour of the shop-floor and offices, and left with a Weir goody bag.

Michael said: “When I heard about Primary Engineer I was intrigued about it. I love the idea the children are learning science, technology, engineering and maths without them realising and enjoying it at the same time.”
