The Building Industry Award, supported by Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce (MYCC), is open to any business with connections to the building industry in Brighouse.

This could be suppliers, Builders, plumbing and electrical. and architects. The award could be presented to a major developer or an individual building professional.

The award was presented by Stephen Leigh, of MYCC, to Arkoni.

Arkoni offers a full metalworking service encompassing design, manufacture, refinishing and an installation service.

The company employs more than 60 people and manufacture a wide range of products from fire-rated windows and doors to steel curtain walling, staircases and canopies, as well as architectural and bespoke metalwork.

Host Clare Frisby said: “This firm is on track to surpass forecasts yet again with a predicted 23 per cent growth in turnover to in excess of £6.5 million in 2014-15. It is the third consecutive year of significant growth.

“Arkoni has also enhanced its manufacturing capability with the construction a new 1,600 square foot workshop incorporating automated technology thanks to partial funding from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) Business Growth Programme.”

Some of its projects include the Broad Street Plaza in Halifax, Derby Sports Arena and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Managing Director Mark Prentice said: “Things are going really well. I can’t believe how well it has taken off.

“Our success is down to a lot of hard work getting involved with contracts and supply chains.

“We hope to continue growing, employing more people and getting stronger and stronger.”

Ploughcroft Ltd and DecoPak were also nominated.

Ploughcroft is a leading Yorkshire roofing and home improvement company.

Ploughcroft Eco-Roof is further underlining its commitment towards grass roots construction skills in the region, as it launches a drive to recruit ten new apprentices for 2015 following a record-breaking year that has seen the company grow by more than 50 per cent in the last 12 months.

In the last 12 months Deco-Pak has witnessed significant growth, helping to further cement the company’s position at the forefront of delivering quality products and services to its garden centre, DIY and builders’ merchant customers.

Turnover alone has increased by more than 25 per cent, while the aggregate and hard landscaping portfolio has increased by 40 per cent year-on-year.
