Brighouse takeaway Mr Pizza has reinforced its excellent food hygiene record by being awarded a five out of five ‘scores on the doors’ rating.

The unannounced inspection by Calderdale Council found very good practices, cleanliness and management, resulting in the highest possible rating.

It means the shop, which is owned by Des and Samantha Claypole, maintains the long-held prestigious five out of five status.

Des aid: “Mr Pizza has had high standards for the 32 years we’ve been serving pizzas, potatoes and more to Brighouse and we are proud this unannounced inspection found that we are maintaining the highest possible standards of hygiene.

“We are proud to maintain the five out of five rating which means our customers can be reassured that the food they are buying from Mr Pizza has been prepared in kitchens that are clean and hygienic.”

Mr Pizza has been based at its Bethel Street premises in Brighouse town centre since 1982.

Inspectors visiting restaurants, shops and takeaways use national criteria to determine the score which includes how hygienically the food is handled, how it is prepared, how it is cooked, reheated, cooled and stored.
