Talks are ongoing to replace a village bus service with a shopper hopper bus that will help serve other community groups.
Residents in Clifton will be losing the Community Transport Calderdale bus which served the village, Rastrick and Elland after funding was stopped.
However, talks have begun between Paul Jones, chief officer for Community Transport Calderdale, Pennine Housing and Councillor Colin Stout, to get an alternative service in place.
“We have been talking to residents in Clifton and other community groups in Brighouse such as Waring Green, Whinney Hill, and Sunny Bank residents Association,” said Councillor Stout (Ind, Brighouse).
“There has been some positive feedback and the next step is to get a questionnaire out there to as many residents to see what service they would like, where they want it to go, so we can secure a shopper hopper bus for them.”
Residents and councillors had fought for years to get the service.
However, funding was cut for Community Transport Calderdale and Metro put out the service to tender.
No bus company decided to take up the full route as another contractor will only run a route from Brighouse through Rastrick and into Elland.
