A Brighouse engineering firm had a visit from the Government’s Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond MP.

Along with Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker, they were given a tour around the facility of Brunswick Tooling, on Birds Royd Lane.

Speaking after his visit he said the company was a good example of how businesses were starting to recover.

“We’ve seen over the last few days incredible national opinion polling showing us neck and neck with Labour slightly ahead.

“At the point where we are in the electoral cycle where we have been through a very tough time, it is clear that the economic recovery is not just taking hold but beginning to deliver for people,” he said.

“Brunswick Tooling are a good example of a company growing, taking people on and apprenticeships and they are making the economic recovery work for them.”

He added that education was a key element in the process of economic recovery and working with businesses so there is a competitive market in the future.
